NOMINATIONS OPEN FOR 2013 WOMEN OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Minister for Women Pru Goward was joined today by two of Australia’s most celebrated Paralympians, Angie Ballard and Louise Sauvage to launch the 2013 Women of the Year Awards.

Speaking from Sydney Olympic Park Ms Goward said the Awards give the community an opportunity to recognise the important role and achievements of women in NSW.

“Louise and Angie are exemplary role models who are an inspiration to women in our community,” Ms Goward said.

“The 2013 Women of the Year Awards are an opportunity for us to recognise the work of women like Louise and Angie who have demonstrated excellence in their career, field or passion.

“They also enable us to acknowledge women who work consistently to make a difference in their communities and workplaces.

“The 2012 Awards were incredibly successful, with over 200 nominations received for women throughout the State.

“We would like to see even more involvement for the 2013 Awards. We need the community’s help to find our next NSW women of the year and the inaugural NSW male champion of change,” Ms Goward said.

Nominations can be made at www.women.nsw.gov.au and will close on Sunday 16 December 2012.

The winners will be announced at a reception hosted by the NSW Premier on Thursday 7 March 2013 at Parliament House, on the eve of International Women’s Day.
