Nominations open for NSW Women of the Year

Lifelong dedication to the advancement of women in NSW will be recognised by a new category in the 2018 NSW Women of the Year Awards.
Minister for Women Tanya Davies today announced public nominations for the coveted Awards are now open, including the addition of the First State Super Lifetime Achievement Award.
“It is important to give the outstanding and inspirational women leading the way across NSW, the recognition and acknowledgement they deserve,” Mrs Davies said.
Mrs Davies said the Awards, now in their seventh year, recognise women who have demonstrated excellence in business and society or made outstanding contributions to their community.
“The NSW Government is committed to building an inclusive and safe society where all women are valued and respected, and can enjoy the rights, freedoms, and protections to which everyone in NSW is entitled.”
The 2018 Awards categories are as follows;

  • NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year
  • NSW Aboriginal Woman of the Year
  • Community Hero
  • Harvey Norman Young Woman of the Year
  • Rex Airlines Regional Woman of the Year
  • NSW Business Woman of the Year
  • First State Super Lifetime Achievement *new


“I urge everyone to submit a nomination and recognise the many brilliant women and young women who are achieving so much in their fields in NSW, and making our communities stronger,” Mrs Davies said.
Earlier this year, Associate Professor Catherine Birman was awarded 2017 NSW Premier’s Woman of the Year, following her 1,000th cochlear implant procedure, making her one of the most experienced cochlear implant surgeons in the world.
