Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen (SALT)

Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen (SALT) is a support network for tradeswomen, apprentices and women considering a career in a trade.

SALT provides:

  • information on trade options, how to become a tradeswoman and how to get an apprenticeship
  • support to tradeswomen in Australia including apprentices and women seeking to work in the trades
  • links to a network of tradeswomen and events where tradeswomen can share experiences

SALT recently launched Skill Women – a key initiative aimed at exposing young women to the types of tools used in various trades including carpentry and painting and decorating.

Together with Women NSW, SALT have developed the Try-A-Trade Trailer, a mobile workshop that visits schools and learning facilities helping young women interested in learning more about becoming a tradeswoman.
