Women NSW is the NSW Government Policy Unit responsible for improving the quality of life of all women in NSW, by promoting gender equality and advancing the social, economic and political status of women of all cultures, ages and backgrounds.

Women NSW leads whole-of-government policy development to improve the safety, wellbeing and economic security of women and supports the Minister for Women and the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

At the core of the work of Women NSW is coordinating and improving the whole-of-government response to domestic and family violence. To achieve this, Women NSW works in partnership with other Government agencies to develop and implement policies and programs, to develop and collect system information and to coordinate reporting on domestic and family violence measures to the NSW Government.

Women NSW also produces Women in NSW reports that examine gender equity against indicators in key areas including:

  • education and learning
  • safety and justice
  • work, leadership and financial security
  • health and wellbeing
