Expressions of Interest are open for DFVSA Council

Women NSW is inviting eligible individuals to apply to become a member of the Domestic and Family Violence and Sexual Assault Council (the Council). The Council is comprised of experts from across the sector to provide advice to the Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault on integrated responses to domestic and family violence and sexual assault in NSW.

The main focus of the Council is:

  • promoting a shared understanding of the aims and intended outcomes of NSW Government domestic and family violence and sexual assault reforms
  • monitoring and advising on reform implementation
  • providing advice on legislation, policy and programs relating to domestic and family violence and sexual assault
  • consulting with stakeholders in order to communicate relevant and emerging issues to the Council.

Terms for the Council are of two years' duration.

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • extensive experience (minimum ten years) working in the sector, including experience in leadership and/or governance roles
  • an ability to represent the views of the sector, within and outside the organisation they work for, at a strategic level
  • advocacy skills and an ability to participate effectively within a strategic committee environment
  • commitment to the objectives of the Council.

Expressions of interest should be made by submitting a 300 word statement addressing the selection criteria and a current curriculum vitae with the names of at least two referees by email with the subject line ‘EOI – Council membership’ to DFVSACouncil@facs.nsw.gov.au.
